The ESG is naturally very supportive of Government’s latest move to make the bus service free for school children during school hours. The group hopes that the community will make full use of this facility thereby reducing peak time traffic which will have positive knock-on effects for those wishing to walk/cycle/and for a cleaner environment.
The ESG has been concerned that the absence of such incentives would result in such traffic congestion, that the radically improved bus service would not be able to function properly once school begins in September and that its timetable would be compromised if constantly held up in traffic jams.
The ESG would still like to see the pensioners request honoured and provide them with free bus passes as well as seeing fees introduced in all parking facilities.
