The protest in Pinar Del Rey was wet but well supported with several hundred people committing to turn out again whenever necessary to stop the current plans for a motorway to run through the forest and one of the main river arteries.
There was support from all over the Bay including Gibraltar with local groups such as ESG, FoE and members from GONHS present. It is understood that an Environmental Impact Assessment is currently underway on the potential impact the road will have on the forest and the ESG has been advised that it will be contacted once this is available.
Notwithstanding the ESG calls upon all citizens from the Bay to please show solidarity at any future protest to protect this remaining natural habitat which has provided so much pleasure to so many in the past and should continue to do so for generations to come.
See following links for more information and background on this issue and on the protest itself.
