This Saturday 7th July will see the first ever Live Earth concerts taking place all around the world. Much like The Live Aid concerts (that aimed to collect money for and raise awareness about poverty in the Third World) this event will bring together musical artists of all styles and genres in order to try and kick off a substantial movement towards a greener and safer planet. Al Gore leads this event at Wembley Stadium which will host the “Mother” Concert and where issues concerning climate change will this time take centre stage.
Concerts will be held in New York, Johannesburg, Rio de Janeiro, Frankfurt, Tokyo, Sydney, Shanghai and London and will include artists such as: The Beasties Boys, Madonna, Duran Duran, The Red Hot Chilli Peppers and many, many more.
The Environmental Safety Group would like to invite members of the public to come along to the Trafalgar Bar this Saturday where the London Concert will be aired all day starting at 2.30 pm and finishing at 11pm.
ESG members will be there with Pledge Sheets (which can also be picked up at http://www.liveearth.org/) and further information on how to do your bit for the environment.
The concert will be shown on BBC 2 from 14:00 to 18:20 Live from Wembley Stadium and on BBC 1 London 18:30 to 23:30
