The ESG publicly commends Govt for taking steps towards feasibility studies for potential, renewable energy projects. The group has been calling for such studies for several years now and considers the announcement by Government to be as welcome as it is necessary. It is clear that Gibraltar has MANY options and should therefore consider them all before deciding on any one, or combination of, systems.

The ESG also calls on Govt to host a series of seminars and public debates on the subject of renewable energy – inviting contributions from all those interested and informed on the subject. What is also clear is that Gibraltar must reduce its reliance on fossil fuels and its CO2 emissions and therefore this is a solid step in the right direction.
