The ESG would like to express its deep concern and alarm at the potential grave risks brought to light by the current industrial dispute affecting Government and Port Employees. Gibraltar and the surrounding environment is a hive of maritime activity and, as such, requires that best practice and the highest safety standards be followed at all times.

An accident in our heavily congested port due to lack of, or poor supervision of the port activity, must be prevented from happening. We therefore strongly urge all parties concerned to settle their differences urgently before a serious accident occurs.
