The ESG wish to draw attention to a recent incident in a company in San Roque called INOXTRADE, which should be giving rise to serious concern in the Bay but has been alarmingly absent from most local news and from our own authorities.
Radioactive lightning rods (as per photos attached), went missing, believed stolen, after their presence in a steel consignment set off alarm bells at the plant. These rods were then stored at Enresa awaiting collection from CSN. They were then reported stolen and the CSN, Consejeria de Seguridad Nuclear, has officially reported the incident claiming it to have potentially dangerous implications if it ends up in the wrong hands.
The Mayor of San Roque has issued several public appeals for its return. The ESG consider that the relevant Gibraltar authorities should also make this information public given the possible safety risks for our own population and the numbers of Gibraltarians who travel in Spain.
Finally, the ESG condemn this latest act of negligence by these Spanish companies who clearly show to have a poor record on health and safety and now security. This being the second known incident of its type following that of the radioactive ashes at Acerinox which continue to remain on site.
